Jenna's Boutique
State Fair of Texas
October 1st-4th, we were in Dallas mainly for the Texas A&M vs Arkansas game at the new Cowboy Stadium in Arlington, but we decided to make a long weekend of it! On Friday, October 2nd, we took Jenna to the State Fair of Texas for the first time. Since Vernie and I grew up in Dallas, the State Fair is one of those nostalgic experiences that we were excited to share with Jenna. Uncle Greg joined us too! We could not have asked for better weather! Early October in Texas you don't know what to expect - hot, cold, rain. It was a beautiful, sunshiney day! Jenna was very excited to see animals! We got to see horses, cows (including a celebrity cow!), pigs, rabbits, dogs and one cat! Also, we had to have a Fletcher's corn dog! Yum! I also wanted to try some of the other fried delicacies. I decided on the fried Snickers. Not bad, but I probably wouldn't have it again. We also tried the fried Coke. After one bite from each of us it went in the trash. Somewhere in there we also checked out the new cars. Jenna was not interested in riding any of the rides. I was fully prepared to squeeze myself into some of those toddler rides with her, but she didn't want to. Maybe next time! You can't go to the State Fair without paying a visit to Big Tex. Jenna thought he was pretty cool! She calls him "Big Ol' Tex" and likes to imitate his moving jaw and waving hand. Oh, she also calls the State Fair the "Steak Fair". She keeps asking if we are going back to the "Steak Fair"!
