Jenna has a new Jenna-ism that makes me laugh. She calls Hobby Lobby - "Hobb-ly Lobb-ly"!

September 15th is Jenna's HALF birthday! She is officially 2 1/2 years old! This is our third week of school. She goes Tuesdays and Thursdays. She loves it! After I picked her up from school on Tuesday, I asked her if she had a good day. Her answer was, "I had a GREAT day!" Also, while we were still in the car, totally out of the blue, she tells me, "Mommy, I'm so happy at school!" My heart swelled! What else can a mom ask for? :-) As nervous as I was to start school I'm convinced that this was one of the best decisions I've made for her so far. At the time of this journal entry, she's only been five times, but I can already tell a difference in her. She has learned so much in this short time. The teachers, Ms. Sara and Ms. Andrea, have been a huge blessing to Jenna!

ANGIE:  Awwww.....that makes me smile! That's wonderful that she loves school! Those teachers are a blessing to Jenna but Jenna is also a blessing to them. I love that little girl!

Jenna has a couple of new words/phrases that has us laughing. She has recently become quite a fan of Humpty Dumpty. It really started when I bought her the book "The Little Engine That Could" a few weeks ago. Humpty Dumpty is one of the toys on the train. She likes to treat it like Where's Waldo and look for Humpty Dumpty through the book. What's so funny though is she calls him "Humpy Dumpy".

This morning, my mom, Jenna and I were at Sam's. I went down the movie aisle to find some new DVD's for our plane ride next week. I was debating back and forth between Sleeping Beauty and Jungle Book. Jenna started asking for "Seeping Booty"! My mom and I were laughing so hard! Of course, I couldn't resist and wondered out loud if that is the same thing as anal leakage! Remember those chips made with Olean from a few years back? That was one of the top side effects. I know, gross. It was so funny at the time!

Angie:  Write all those sayings down somewhere so you'll remember them! Ashlan is 5 and can speak very well although she calls the refrigerator the 'frig-e-lator'. And she calls Brent's guitars, 'Bi-tars'. I love it!!!!

Another funny tidbit about Jenna for this Wednesday afternoon...

I think Jenna is my pedicure buddy in training. Almost daily she asks me to clip her "noetails". She's not quite as crazy about having her fingernails clipped, but on her own asks to have her "noetails" clipped. Yes, she says "noetails" instead of toenails. I usually try not to use her incorrect version of words, but she's got me calling them "noetails" too!

For our family and friends that we don't get to see or talk to enough I have to share a few fun stories about Jenna. One of the millions of things I love about her is that she loves music and she loves to sing. Her latest song that she can't get out of her head is, "Hush little baby don't say a word. Mama's gonna buy you a mockingbird." Although, her version is, "Hush little baby don't say a word. Mama's gonna buy you a monkey-bird." It makes me smile every time! I've even heard her a time or two say "donkey-bird".

A couple of nights ago Vernie put the TV on the show "Deadliest Catch" on the Discovery Channel. If you've never seen it, it's about the dangerous job of crab fishing in the Bering Sea off of Alaska. Jenna watched these ships in the water for about 30 seconds and then she disappeared. She reappeared with her Noah's Ark toy. She wanted to have her ship while she watched these ships on TV.

She has named her bathtub baby doll Lady GaGa. I'm not quite sure why, but we're going with it!

Everything is cute to her. Some of the obvious ones are babies, dogs, birds, etc. She'll even see a spider, wasp or worm and think they are cute. Mommy disagrees. She even thinks the dead Junebugs on the back patio are cute. Speaking of Junebugs, she actually calls them Kickbugs. My dad (Granddad to Jenna) was on the patio with Jenna a few weeks ago and he started kicking the Junebugs out into the grass. Ever since then she calls them Kickbugs.

We started our sixth session of Kindermusik this morning. I can't believe we've been going since she was six months old. She loves it!

She still loves Barney, but she's been asking to watch more Wonder Pets and Backyardigans. Another one she can't get enough of is Shrek. We actually don't own the first Shrek movie so we alternate between Shrek 2 and Shrek The Third. She sometimes gets on a Follow That Bird kick too.

I'll add more stories as Jenna creates them!

I had gotten way behind on adding pictures. I apologize to all of Jenna's fans! I have added albums for the George Bush Presidential Library Easter Egg Hunt, a visit to Pecan Acres and two separate albums for our weekend in Houston with the Aubels. I still have a lot more pictures to add! My excuse for getting so behind is that it takes forever to upload pictures with our crummy internet connection. I feel like I'm working with dial up again. I'll try to do better and add more pictures sooner rather than later!

Happy Easter! We have been busy the last week. On Saturday, April 4th, we took Jenna to her first Easter Egg Hunt at the George Bush Presidential Library. It was so crowded! Jenna only got one egg, but thankfully she didn't know what was going on so she didn't get upset. After the egg hunt we headed towards Chappell Hill to leave Sam at Pecan Acres. His first home! While we were there we got to play with 3-week-old Labrador puppies and take pictures of Jenna in the pretty, pink Buttercups! After our fun there we headed towards Houston. We had a very yummy lunch at a Greek restaurant, Yia Yia Mary's. Once we were stuffed we check into the Hotel ZaZa. Interesting place! :-) Our point of going to Houston was to meet the Aubels there. They were driving in from New Orleans for the weekend. Once we all got settled in we had another yummy, but very loud, meal at Lupe Tortilla. We even ran into one of our hometown (Garland) friends there! Small world! We called it a night after dinner. On Sunday morning we went to the Houston Zoo. This was Jenna's first visit to a zoo. She loved it! Although, I think Makenzie and Braxton helped keep her entertained. She had so much fun with them! After the zoo we tried a BBQ place in Houston that Vernie had read about. It was ok, but I've had better. We still didn't stop there! We all then went to the Houston outlet shops on the way out of town. We went to the two stores we wanted to visit, then called it a day. The Aubels shopped until they dropped! The new week began with our usual - errands, Kindermusik, etc. On Friday, April 10th, we had our own Easter Egg Hunt with friends (Emily, Molly, Ally, Mechelle & Alexis) in the park in our neighborhood. This egg hunt was a bigger success than the egg hunt at the library. Jenna really filled up her basket! On Saturday, April 11th, we took Jenna to her first circus. She was really excited when we got there, but lost interest about 20 minutes into it. We stuck it out through the entire show though! Finally, today was another fun-filled day of Easter brunch at Christopher's with GaGa, Granddad and Uncle Greg. Once we got home from brunch the Easter Bunny had paid a visit. Jenna gathered more eggs in the backyard. After that, Jenna opened all of the gifts waiting for her. She had so many that she went down for her nap before she finished opening all of them. Unfortunately, Vernie woke up this morning with a really bad sore throat and had to miss out on all the fun. Needless to say, I have a ton of pictures I need to add to the site. Be watching for them! Hope this finds everyone doing well!

Jenna is two years old today! We have had a fun filled weekend. We had her Barney party on Saturday and continued the celebration today with a visit to Chuck E. Cheese's. I'll be adding pictures of Jenna's big weekend very soon. Stay tuned!

An update on the confusion on Jenna's weight at her 18-month appointment... She was 25.9 pounds. Case closed. Don't ask.

OK, so Jenna and I had to take Sam to the vet's office on Wednesday. Since he is a wild, big dog they put us in the big exam room. This room has an exam table that starts low and raises up electronically. This table also has a built-in scale. While we were waiting on the vet to come in I let Jenna roam around the room. She decided to climb up on the exam table while it was in the lowered position. She was sitting there very still and the scale measured her to be 26.5 lbs. As you may recall from her appointment on Monday, the pediatrician's office weighed her to be 29.9 lbs. That would be a weight gain of 6.8 lbs in the three months since her 15-month appointment. This seemed like a lot, but I didn't have any reason to question the scale at the pediatrician's office at the time. Now I do! I wish I knew which scale is more accurate!
